My heart, prayers and condolences go out to the people in Kasese - TopicsExpress

My heart, prayers and condolences go out to the people in Kasese and Bundibugyo. The Bakonzo and the Bamba. Ethnic clashes are becoming very commonplace and hundreds of lives have been and are being lost. What happened to a one people? What happened to celebrating diversity and culture? At some point our cultural multiplicity as Ugandans was something we spoke of with pride and ease. Right now it is becoming our worst nightmare. What is causing all this? Where is the problem? More ethnic groups are cutting themselves off from the mainstream groups. Is this the problem? Are people becoming greedy for power? Are cultural institutions becoming much much more than just a means of cultural identity? And why are the mainstream groups fighting to keep the break aways? Why do the Bakonzo have to be ready to kill the Bamba because they broke away? Why cant they be left to identify as them if they feel that is what serves their culture right? My soul bleeds for the day when every one can talk about their ethnicity without looking out for who is listening. Were the most diverse country on earth. We should celebrate that. We owe ourselves that. #WangaalaAyiSsabasajjaKabakaWaBuganda
