My last post as the mother of a Marching Mustang. I am so proud of my daughter and of this band. Unless you have ever been in or had a child in marching band, you have no clue what it takes. Hours of practice, hours of travel. It takes a small army to move this band. It takes dedicated parents and supporters to get them to the place they need to be, at the time they need to be there, in the state of mind they need to be in. They are fed great meals by the food ladies. They are helped on and off the field by, as the award they received this year stated, the best pit crew ever. We travel with 2 semis, the food wagon, the guard van, a dually carrying the 4 wheeler, 4 school buses and a caravan of excited and fiercely devoted parents and supporters. We are truly an impressive site pulling into a competition. Having said that, the one most impressive thing about this band is they go on that field to march and leave their best on it. They are the Marching Mustangs. A simple statement that says it all. I have been proud to be a part of this for the last four years as a mom. I will be in the middle of it again and again as long as I am needed to be a band mom. It wont be the same without Blair in the picture, but Daniel will be there next year and I am, in a round about, sort of way, his mom. After he graduates, I am sure that I can still find a way to be a band mom. I want to thank these kids for making me proud to say these are my kids and I am their mom.
