My lovely Mum Marie Heaton was the life and soul of the party. - TopicsExpress

My lovely Mum Marie Heaton was the life and soul of the party. She worked hard all her life and along with my Dad, Paul raised 5 children and gave us a great start to our own lives. Having worked all her life she retired at the age of 60 ready to do all the things she had planned with many countries on her list to visit she booked her first trip to Cuba. Unfortunately within months things started to go wrong she was experiencing panic attacks, getting confused and forgetting basic instructions like making a cup of tea. Having been referred by her GP to the hospital we got the devastating news that mum had early onset Alzheimers. The deterioration in mum was rapid. Within two years we were no longer able to care for her at home even though my dad and sister both cared for her the best they could. Eventually we made the difficult decision that mum needed full time care for her own safety and we found her a place in Albion House at Millview Nursing Home. She now lives in this house with around 20- 30 residents who all have varying levels of dementia but we know she is safe and happy in her own way. She is very mobile and like to walk and sing and I hope to improve mums and all the other residents lives with a much needed Residents Fund. This will pay for various bits and pieces from Arts & Crafts stuff to presents at Christmas and maybe even an entertainer to sing some of the old songs they still remember. Therefore the creation of this page was required and this is where I need your support. More info to follow soon re the Christmas Raffle Thanks Alison
