My manager have always found it amusing when I sit across the table and start eating my sandwich with a knife and fork. “Why don’t you just use your hands and eat it up, isn’t that quick and better?”, he questions. Actually a very good question, to which I have often told, and my answer is quite simple. I’m trying my best to slow things down, I’m gonna dissect this food slowly and live my moment with this Chicken sandwich… Life has always been on a fast lane, time pass me by before I can really relish it, or think twice about it. But there are times I rebel against this hectic lifestyle of mine by just pausing time, stopping it drastically, just to appreciate a moment i’m in. So when I slowly slice my sandwich using a fork and knife, I am focusing completely on what’s most important for me at that minute. That small slice of bread and shredded chicken becomes my entire universe, it becomes the most supreme and crucial task. I chew it with the utmost attention and reverence, as if the sandwich is the axis on which my whole world rotates. Slowly, evenly, taking long deep breaths, inhaling and closing my eyes to get lost in that one single moment… Disconnect yourself from the world for that moment, being connected all the time means we’re subject to interruptions, we’re constantly stressed about issues and tensions walking into our head, we are at the mercy of the demands of others. But if you are gonna live a moment, then you should go offline from everything and focus on that one thing with everything you got.. Pull yourself back, be mindful of each bite, don’t cram it down the throat, appreciate the flavors and respect the texture. Apply that everywhere and on anything you do, when you are washing dishes, washing them must be the most important thing in your life. When you drink a coffee, drink like its an elixir or life, drink it slowly and with the utmost passion. Let it be the world that revolves around you and do it without rushing into the future. Live the actual moment you are in, realize that only this actual moment is life, and nothing else. Blog Link - mysoulfulreflections.wordpress/2014/07/27/living-a-moment/
