My mother has been proposed to 18 different times. By 18 different men. She has always declined. Shes always been single parent, by choice. She has never lived by the book. She has always said she would have wanted the beautiful wedding, just not the husband. And shes virtually the happiest, most vivacious, individualistic woman I have ever met. The only commitment she could ever make was to her family; to motherhood. But every woman, no matter how independent, deserves jewelry. So I found it fitting, as a month-early birthday gift, to get her that shiny stone shes been missing.
