My name is Nickole Grato, and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes - TopicsExpress

My name is Nickole Grato, and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on my 10th birthday. I am 34 now and luckily have very few damage to my vital organs. But I still have to watch every single thing I eat, test my blood sugar 6-9 times a day, make sure I always have my pump with me, have extra supplies in case mine run out, make sure I always have sugar close by, feel sick either too high or too low 95% of my life, check my feet daily, check my eyes regularly, see my doctor every three months, worry about the day I find out my kidneys are failing me, reassure my husband that I am safe, make sure I wake up every morning and that I dont sleep through a low .... Those are some of the trials that accompany life with diabetes. Over the last 24 years so much has changed in the world of diabetes. I have worn an insulin pump for 13 years, life changing for sure!! But this... The Trina Health Artificial Pancreas Treatment gives me hope I honestly didnt think I would see in my lifetime. It is an incredible breakthrough in the race to cure to Diabetes and I implore you to look into the amazing things they are doing (trinahealth)! For myself, as well as for those living with the disease, I am going to journal my experience through what I am hoping a treatment that will change my life for the better. Im nervous and will sometimes doubt this process. I ask that you please stick with me and encourage me through my low points and rejoice and celebrate when I hit a new level or breakthrough. I dont know this is all going to turn out, and Im learning that thats ok. I have hope and faith and a tremendous support team behind me. Lets get busy......
