My new article about Languages in tourism... :) Languages in tourism Languages and Tourism. This combination belongs together since long ago. Knowledge of languages is an absolute necessity in tourism. Animators, representatives, tourist guides, waiters, waitresses, receptionists and of course other people in the field of tourism, can not foreign languages and studying of foreign languages in any case avoid. Languages are therefore very important part of tourism. Let´s imagine a model situation when you would come to a foreign vacation, trip or long weekend into booked hotel and you would want to stay. However, the receptionist, other staff, or the entire hotel would begin to speak with you only in their native language (the language of their country). A similar situation we can imagine also in a restaurant, cafe, wine bar when ordering food, drink, etc. Let alone if the menu and other things would be only in the language of the country. A terrible imagination! Do not you think? The most common and most used language in the area and the tourism industry is undoubtedly English. It is used as a communication and media control all information in the travel industry worldwide. Nowadays into the English language we can also find translated almost all menus and drink menus of restaurants and cafes in countries around the world. Do not forget the tourist guides and tourist maps. English serves too as an excellent advertisement for attracting tourists to various tourist events and attractions, or as an advertisement for optional trips, social evenings, discos etc.. The knowledge of at least two foreign languages in the communicative level is required for employees and workers in the tourism sector. Plus their native language, of course. While still a student in high schools and then at university, future tourism professionals have to teach and have to be learned two foreign languages. Mainly it is the English language (of course) and then the German language. Knowledge of other languages is a great advantage for potential employees in tourism. The English language is therefore the global number one language in the tourism and hospitality industry worldwide. Then we have a few other languages which are used less (rather only for communication purposes). In Europe, we have these two languages. Above all, German and French language. In America it is Spanish language. In Australia and Oceania prevails as the second most important French language. In Africa also prevails French language as a second one. Today, in the 21st century, languages are the major and a large part of the travel and tourism industry. But the same is also true in the opposite case. We can say that languages are part of travel and tourism, but also that tourism is a part of languages. Especially nowadays, when people travel more individually (without using services of travel agencies).
