My new moto: If you want to look like an athlete, start eating and - TopicsExpress

My new moto: If you want to look like an athlete, start eating and training like one! I was criticized by another trainer recently as I told a client to exercise every day until they get to their ideal waistline / shape... The comment from the trainer was oh, you cannot train like that! Your clearly over training..... So heres me thinking about my friends who were at the 2012 London Olympic Games competing or the fighter whose at his UK title fight next week & the 70 year cyclist I met in my shop the other day who cycles 200 miles per week without fail... These individuals have awesome physiques for their sport / age! These people exercise for hours each day and their rest day is a light cardio session equivilant to the normal gym goers hardest session.... The client in question has already lost almost 4 from the waistline in less than 7 weeks and has shown an increase in health / happiness and energy levels... The whole culture of lazy training and only exercising 3 - 5 hours per week is the result of us accepting to not challenge ourselves, to not push ourselves to change! Your body will only change if you force it too! I personally havent had a rest day in almost 18 months and my physique, energy levels, training and nutrition has never been so great!! I guess this is an each to their own attitude however through personal experience and by seeing some pro athletes exercising 3 - 6 hours per day every day you need to question yourself is 1 hour a day / 7 hours out of 168 hours per week really that much??? Think of it like this.... compound effect! by doing a bit everyday will have a much better / positive impact on your body that an one off session here or there.... Eating healthily each and every day with perhaps one cheat meal per week will have a positive impact also.... So why dont we adopt this culture??? Simply put... excuses, marketing, tv, pr and slack gym instructor attitudes are making people FAT and LAZY!!!! Weve never had so much health / fitness awareness so WHY ARE WE THE 2ND FATTEST NATION ON THE PLANET???? Ironically this has just been typed up after my coffee shot following 3 crazy giant set chest / tricep exercises so Im pumped up and now eating my fish supper! #practicewhatIpreach #donotbeaverage #lazyculture #beanathlete #trainlikeanathlete
