My news release to withdraw from the provincial race and endorse Suzanne Shawbonquit... NDP Past Candidate Paul Loewenberg announces support of new provincial candidate, Suzanne Shawbonquit -“Suzanne’s provincial experience and background with entrepreneurial strategies makes her a perfect candidate for this provincial election. She stands for the same ideals held by the Ontario NDP and I know that Suzanne will be a natural fit for provincial politics. We first met 20 years ago when she was working for the Northern Lights Festival on developing new programming through the year. When I became the Artistic Director in 1999, She was one of the sets of footprints I have tried to follow since.” “When I first heard that there was going to be an election, I filed my papers to run. The media had called me that first day and asked if I would run in the election. I remarked then that this race won’t come down to parties or who is governing or who is opposition… but would be the freshest face with the best ideas. Having been around a couple of these now… I can say that Suzanne is the best candidate to support in this election. We sat down last month and I not only thought that she would make a great provincial candidate, but that I would even like to work on her campaign. I am withdrawing from this provincial race and would like to ask anyone that has supported me in the past to meet Suzanne.” “This is an election that the NDP can win. I will be happy to work in organization to elect the right person… an MPP who will fight for accountability against a government that continues to betray the trust of the people of Ontario with programs they can’t administer and promises they can’t deliver. As for me… I look forward to this fight, provincially, and I look forward to standing with the NDP in any future election that comes up.” My hope is that the Sudbury NDP goes into this provincial election united in solidarity with Labour, working people, the young and the old with Artists, Farmers and Business, with Health Care, Education and Public Service… for these are the engines that build our community and these are the engines that we must give the best fuel to in order to make our community grow. “After this by-election, then we can focus on Federal. Stephen Harper has pillaged this country for the sake of the last gasps of Neo-Liberal Economic agenda. While the rest of the world realizes that you can’t trust the care of legislation, accountability and transparency to Billionaires, we still suffer under this Oligarchy. Our federal member stepped down from the NDP leaving us to run a nomination this year… and I intend to stand for that position and together we will keep Sudbury Orange from house to house, corner to corner.” Paul Loewenberg Sudbury NDP paul@thetownehouse
