My open letter to my congressman: Dear Congressman Hoyer, The press states that you are considering paying the employees that were furloughed on October 1, 2013 because of Congressional budget disagreements. I remind you that some employees like myself who are Working Capital Fund employees and our military are taking up the essential tasking in the absence of those employees. It is unfair that employees who are home “doing nothing” get paid and no consideration is given to those of us who remain on the job doing extra duties to compensate for their absence go unrecognized. I demand that any legislation that includes repayment of furloughed employees also include some demonstration of appreciation for those who continued to work in this crisis and time of uncertainty.
