My post is long, as is the video. Im not necessarily asking you to read my rant.. But please watch this video. In regards to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge I had been somewhat negative, pissy even. What in the hell does throwing a bucket of ice over your head do for the people who have suffered and NOT lived through this horrid disease? What does it do for the loved ones left behind to mourn the loss of those extraordinary people that are taken, very often at an age deemed much too young to die. This mans video pulled my heart strings and the tears came with. The conversation is exactly as he spoke of it. Either A) Whatss ALS? -- You know, Lou Gehrigs Disease. Or B) As a look of horror spreads their face.. Im sorry to hear your grandmother had to endure that. Its so horrible. Next topic. And it is. The seriousness and disparity of ALS is something that can not be fully understand until you have witnessed it first hand. The deterioration, the sadness, the helplessness. Its real, and it causes very severe complications that lead to the death of the important people in your life. My Grandmother spent two years dying after her official diagnosis. While I hate that disease with every cell in my body, I am also thankful to have learned as much as I did during that time. To live life, to say youre sorry, to say I love you. Dont take it for granted. This is by far the longest rant Ive ever shared through a social networking portal. As stated at the beginning I have been very aggravated with all of the seemingly pointless ice bucket challenges. This video entirely changed my outlook, and I am now thundercatsgo! #ALSIceBucketChallenge #kissmyALS
