My recollection of 9/11: Little did I know that my older son was at the Twin Towers with 2 partners and had just decided NOT to go up as they might miss their flight back to TX. On their way to the airport, they noticed some odd stuff falling on the taxi (ashes) As they looked back and saw huge black clouds around the towers, they realized something had happened. Approaching the airport, people were coming out, running, jamming the streets. When they entered, the intercom was blaring Bomb alert .They took off on foot along hundreds of people. At some point, the news of the attacks became clear.All hotels were filled to capacity. One partner had a relative who offered shelter. In the meantime, I had come home from work and watched the heartbreaking news reports, totally unaware of my sons narrow escape. I had to call the Corpus Christi office for a minor inquiry and that was unusual as I very rarely call him at work. Immediately. the secretary blurted : Its alright Mrs M,. Russell is ok, he is ok! I had no idea what she meant and asked why she said that. Didnt you know he is in New York? she added. WHOA, WHAT did you say? What a shock, but what a relief that he was indeed OK Much sadness and grief for all those who lost their lives in such a horrific way :/ We cling to the promise that the Father will give us beauty for ashes not understanding all this, but TRUSTING that He is in control Blessed be His Name !!!!
