My shallow attempt at condolences for the accident that was on every customers mind that entered the store last night: A second person has been declared dead as a result of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in South Lebanon Township Sunday night. Dixon Santana-Vazquez, 22, of 636 E. Lehman St., was declared dead by the Dauphin County Coroners Office at Hershey Medical Center Monday morning. Zakari Bennett, 22, of 523 Cumberland St., Lebanon, was declared dead at the scene Sunday night by Lebanon County Deputy Coroner Douglas Leiby. Emergency personnel were dispatched at 7:10 p.m. Sunday to the 1900 block of East Cumberland Street (Route 422) following the two-vehicle crash. On Monday, following an investigation by the Lebanon County Accident Reconstruction Team, police said that Bennetts Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling west on Route 422 and a Jeep Liberty driven by David Arnold, 28, of 21 S. College St., Myerstown, was traveling east. Near Route 422 and Elder Street, Bennetts car crossed the center turn-only lane and entered the eastbound lane, striking the SUV head-on. Three passengers in the car were transported to local hospitals for treatment: Santana-Vazquez; Darius Zook, 23, of 354 Rexmont Road, Cornwall; and Kumar Persaud, 18, of 416 N. Seventh St., Lebanon. Arnold and four passengers in the SUV, all of 21 S. College St., Myerstown, were transported to local hospitals for treatment: Amarilys Nadal, 34; Marissa Nadal, no age listed; Christian Nadal, no age listed; and Alaina Arnold, 6. Darius Zook was in serious condition at Hershey Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday afternoon. David Arnold and Amarilys Nadal were treated and released, the spokeswoman said. Marissa Nadal was in serious condition, while Christian Nadal was in critical condition, the spokeswoman said. Alaina Arnolds condition was undetermined, the spokeswoman said. She said Kumar Persaud was not listed at the hospital. According to Daily News records, Bennett and Santana-Vazquez were the fourth and fifth people to die as a result of accidents on Lebanon County roads this year. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 717-274-0481.
