My sister-in-law tagged me in this. Sorry for the long winded response. Growing up my grandfather always said I told shaggy dog stories, that hadnt changed lol. 10 facts about me? I tried thinking of surprising ones, which is hard since Im such an open book. 1. Im a true extrovert. The only one in my immediate family. My parents and brothers need personal space and down time. Spending time around people is exhilarating and I feed off that energy. My close friends and husband are all extroverts - sadly, growing up the shy kids never were on my radar. 2. Being a stay at home mom never occurred to me. As teens I imagined Victor as such a punk rebel and I always wanted multiple degrees and a career before starting a family. Life is strange, we are a superbly old fashioned couple. At 15 I envisioned us living above some restaurant in Little Havana while we both worked and he played shows at night and I studied. Living in the suburbs with four children, a picket fence and two puppies, its truly a gift. This is us, right where we are meant to be. 3. I have terrible eye sight and will only wear glasses if absolutely necessary. Ive worn contacts since middle school. Last week I had to wear my glasses and my children had no idea I owned them lol. 4. I played various sports growing up (tennis, softball, swam) and I was in ballet for years. I still am uncoordinated and have terrible balance. 5. Im empathetic, too much so. Im sensitive to peoples feelings and the worst thing I could be told was that I was careless with somebodys emotions. 6. I was diagnosed with petit mal epilepsy as a child. Luckily after years on Depakote I was taken off the medicine prior to middle school. 7. I was accused of plagiarizing a poem by my 5th grade teacher because she said I wasnt smart enough to have written it. She made me cry in front of the entire class. Karma had my back, at 18 my professor helped me publish a book of poetry to be used in his classes at FIU. 8. I find it repulsive that in contemporary society people call themselves strong - when theyre really being mean. My generation especially prides themselves on being snarky thinking that equates to wittiness. It doesnt. Its much harder to wake up and be kind day in and day out, than to let every negative thought you have fall from your lips. I battle with this daily lol. 9. Something that I want to shout at the sky for all to hear is this, life isnt a reality TV show. Most people arent out to get you, they arent even thinking about you. The truth of life is not that people are conspiring against you - the cruel truth is nobody is thinking about you. 10. At 13 I went on my first date without any chaperones. Prior to this date my older brother was sent with me everywhere. I married my first date, and hes never stopped surprising me, and everyday bad or good we make each other laugh. People have questioned if I think we just stayed together out of ease, or routine. After all, who finds their soul mate at 13? We did. We were lucky to be placed in each others lives, and growing up together and having a family so young is anything but easy. Its been 16 years since I met my husband and Ive yet to meet another man with his work ethic, integrity, intelligence or sense of humor. We just fit.
