My students have been learning about community helpers for two weeks. Today we studied farmers. After listening to a couple of stories about farmers we did a farmer thinking map. Then I showed my students pictures of my brother and his wife on the farm. I showed them a picture of me feeding a baby calf. I showed them pictures of the cows and the baby calves and tractors. They were amazed and loved seeing the pictures of the cows, especially the ones up close where they could see the eyelashes and the noses of the cows. One of my students said Ms. Chessor I didnt know they were so cute! Another one said I didnt know women could be farmers too!. The pictures of my brother and sister in law on the farm was BY FAR the most educational and discussion prompting part of my lessons today. Thank you Nathan Guthrie and Maya Guthrie for being an inspiration to my students today! I love you both.
