My take on your college football headlines for the weekend: Arizona clipped the Ducks and set the trend for the weekend on Thursday night, though most of us thought it would be a fluke; Tennessee was checkmated in their checkerboard stadium as Driskel lost his job and Muschamp saved his for another week; Dak Prescott showed A&M that your QB doesn’t need a name change to win big games; Marshall yelled at the pollsters for a ranking; FSU still can’t figure out what time the game starts in any week, but I guess if you spot another team a quarter and still win big, you don’t need to be on time; I see you there, Clemson; Baylor finally played a decent team [maybe], and it looked a little less Baylor-y; the Sooners tried to mess with the ‘Frogs and got the horns; Northwestern upset another team for the 2nd week in a row – maybe purple was just a good color this weekend; unless you’re LSU, which showed us why they should never have had a number by their name; in the battle of the F_Us, the I’s have it; Stanford’s offense acted like their ‘mascot’ for most of the game, but I guess they were hoping that the water would give them stronger roots or something; the Mississippis justified the presence of the 2 biggest game-day programs, even though Katy Perry tried to steal the show all day; Todd Gurley threw the longest pass for UGA all season, and I expect him to be kicking the PATs at Mizzou next week, too; Brady Hoke is definitely feeling better about his prospects for a change of scene in the next month or so; the state of Arizona should be proud, for helping out the entire college football world; Kentucky gave the Old Ball Coach a black eye, and now he’s recontemplating that retirement package; Nebraska pouted for most of the game, like their coach, and then offered too little, too late; truly, Los Angeles teams had a rough day yesterday, much to the delight of college football fans everywhere; Separation Saturday showed us just how stupid the pre-season guesses offered up by the polls really were, and it still baffles me that one week’s rankings depend so much on the previous week’s
