My top 15 favorite oscar nominated films of the 1960s: #3 Doctor Zhivago (1965) Directed by David Lean Starring Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Geraldine Chaplin, Rod Steiger, Alec Guiness and Tom Courtenay. Nominated for 10 academy awards and won 5 for score, costume design, art direction, cinematography and adapted screenplay. Life of a Russian doctor/poet who, although married, falls for a political activists wife and experiences hardships during the Bolshevik revolution. This film is absolutely magnificent in cinematography, direction and acting and although Sound of Music is one the few musicals I can sit through, there is no doubt that this film should have won the best picture award IMO. What does the M4s think of this film?
