My ward, Ward 3 in Constituency 1 of Ibadan South West, has had and is still having the misfortune of being represented at councillorship, chairmanship and state honourable levels by narrow-minded, shallow-thinking and intellectually deprived politicians with retrogressive tendencies. One Mr Tajudeen Aleshinloye was once IBSW local government chairman and my ward did not enjoy a modicum of dividend of democracy under him despite that he is an indigene of my ward. He had an opportunity to construct one of the roads that are designed in the master plan of IBSW to run through my ward but he didnt construct the road because he wanted to go for second term in office, the ambition he never realised. Also, we have an honourable in the present Oyo state House of Assembly in the person of Kehinde Subair, also an indigene of my ward. Sentiment apart, Ward 3 has not benefitted from the stewardship of Hon Subair in concrete terms. The inconsequential empowerment programmes and shoddy rehabilitations of some infrastructures Hon Subair claimed to have done are mere irrelevancies compared to huge resources he is getting in form of constituency allowances. Yet, some sycophantic and myopic youths from my ward are bent on returning him for second term because of the crumbs that fall of Hon Subairs table which the youths feed fat on. Thats what poverty of both mind and stomach has turned the youths of my ward into.
