On November 7, White, of Lindley Mill Road had been hunting for deer on land near the farm of Allie Dixon. White had been in a tree stand when he shot and killed Dixons black and white pit bull named Ellie Mae in the face and posted an arrogant admission to the crime on Facebook stating: My hunt was ruined by 2 dogs running 2 does. So I had to let one rip on the dogs. Before White removed the post, several irate readers had already taken screenshots of the alleged animal cruelty situation. Randy Jones, public information officer for the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office, stated White originally gave a statement to authorities shooting the dog had been an accident. A necropsy and the Facebook posts proved differently. Ellie Mae was a rescue dog, who Dixon saved from an abusive situation when the dog was only six-months old. A Facebook page called Justice for Ellie Mae has already garnered thousands of supporters who want justice for this dog and to bring more attention to the heinous crimes of animal cruelty. “We don’t want him to get a slap on the wrist, Dixon told the TimesNews. We’re not itching for jail time, but don’t want him to have the right to carry a gun, and we want his hunting rights stripped. _________________________________________________ ANOTHER ARTICLE: Family dog intentionally shot and killed by hunter in Alamance County (myfox8/2014/11/19/family-dog-intentionally-shot-and-killed-by-hunter-in-alamance-county/) ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Social media posts lead to animal cruelty charges against an Alamance County man. Investigators initially started investigating the case as a hunting accident, it quickly changed into a criminal investigation and they arrested 20-year-old Trevor White after they say he shot and killed a dog. Allison Dixon rescued Ellie when she was 6 months old. She had a broken leg and came from an abusive home. The pit bull mix quickly learned to become a farm dog. “She hung by and stayed around the farm. She was everywhere where the Gator was,” said Dixon. Earlier this month, Dixon was on Facebook and saw a post allegedly from White about shooting a dog. Within hours Dixon knew that dog was Ellie. “If this was an accident, by all means I would forgive him in a heartbeat because accidents happen. But I know this wasn’t an accident. He bragged about it and posted about it,” said Dixon. Dixon showed FOX8 a screen shot from a video White allegedly posted with the caption in part, “My hunt was ruined by 2 dogs running 2 does. So I had to let one rip on the dogs.” “To me this is just a total injustice to just shoot a dog and think it’s just a dog. She had a name, her name was Ellie Mae. She was ours and we loved her and now she is gone,” explains Dixon. Allison Dixon is working with animal cruelty groups in hopes to raise awareness. She has created a Facebook page titled Justice for Ellie Mae. In less than two weeks the page has more than 7,000 likes.
