NAMI - Parenting Course If you have a child or grandchild living with depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, OCD, schizophrenia, or another mental illness, National Alliance on Mental Illness-Orange County (NAMI-OC) wants to help. NAMI Basics is a free, 6-class course for parents and other family member caretakers of children and adolescents living with mental health conditions. A FRIDAY EVENING, 6:30-9:00 PM NAMI BASICS COURSE WILL BEGIN IN LAGUNA BEACH ON DECEMBER 5TH . In this class we will educate you on topics including: The biological aspects of several mental illnesses and the symptoms associated with those conditions Tips for responding to stressful and/or emotionally intense situations Problem-solving and communication skills Working with schools and other community resources to meet your child’s needs Be sure to enroll in advance, as space is limited. How to enroll: Submit an online application via namioc.org to express your interest. Upon receipt of your application, a NAMI-OC representative will telephone to you to discuss your interest in the program and enroll you into a specific group.
