#NAPOMO2014 6/30 Bull Rider (rough draft) I gotta learn how to ride a bull. Im thinking about going to rodeo bars And practice on the mechanical ones, Holding on for dear life Knowing that more than likely Ill be thrown off But something inside me Will make me keep trying to get back on. Practice makes perfect. My technique would be different. Instead of holding on with one hand And waving the other like a cowboy, Id bend and hold on with both my arms, Wrapped around it like a big hug Until I learn to hold on No matter how hard it bucks. And Ill do it over and over again. I got to get this right. Because the day I decide to Ride a real bull, Ill only get one chance. I wont be placed on his back because There will be no gate holding him in. Onlookers will be stunned to inaction In disbelief when they see me Just run and jump on him And as soon as he realizes its me, Hes gonna scream and cuss and fight and buck and Try to throw me off. I cant let that happen. Because if he succeeds, Ill more than likely be stomped And gorged to death Because he doesnt know me anymore Killing me with stares, Profanity and ignoring me are second nature like Daps, hugs and jokes used to be. So Ill hold on tight, closing my eyes Knowing this will be the closest thing To a time machine Ill ever have And I pray, with every ounce of strength in me That hell give up, give in, Turn around, hug me back... ...and forgive me. #MindofTavis
