NASS to pass PIB soon, says Ekweremadu The long expected Petroleum Industry Bill will soon be passed into law if the assurances coming from the National Assembly are anything to go by. Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, gave the hint on Sunday evening in an interview with journalists in Umuahia where he attended the emergency meeting of South East leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Ekweremadu explained that the Committee on Petroleum had almost concluded work on the bill, assuring that it would be given accelerated hearing as soon as the National Assembly resumes from recess. He said the bill was so germane to the much-needed revolution in the oil sector that the National Assembly could not afford to disappoint Nigerians by not giving the required attention to the bill. The Deputy Senate President said the lawmakers would do the needful so that the bill would be passed into law before the expiration of the current National Assembly
