NATIONAL CONFAB OR GEJ SETTLEMENT JAMBOREE? For a while now Nigerians had been clamouring for a Sovereign National Conference, where everybody will come and discuss how he or she thinks Nigeria should be governed and proffer solution for a way forward, but successive governments pay little or no attention to these calls. It is worthy to note that many of the prominent Nigerians who agitated for this conference has gone home and join their ancestors. GEJs government wished to be a listening govt. and decide to conduct a constitutional confab but gave a matching order that 1. Unity of this country is not negotiable. 2. Removed SOVEREIGN, and give us ordinary conference without legal backing but will be subjected to the national assembly, among other things. My issue is that why shld there be no go a Area, why cant we discuss if we want to be together or not, why is that unity of Nigeria cannot be discussed when the north and the west has vowed that no meaningful federal project will be sited in the eastern part of the country. Why cant we discus the unity of this country when the north and west will not allow anybody from the eastern part to rule the country. Why cant we discus the unity of this country when somebody frm the east cannot go to the north and sleep with two eyes closed nor go to church freely and worship God without fear of been attacked or bombed. When I look at some of the delegates to the conference, I began to ask if they are really going to discus the problem of the nation or they are there for somebodies agenda. The worst of them all are some of the delegates frm the South East, the likes of Jimi Nwobodo, Rtd Brigadier General Ike Nwachukwu or my respected Chukwuemeka Ezeife who has said it without any pretends that if GEJ did not come back 2015 there will be war. And each of these delegate is been paid #4,000,000 for accommodation alone for one month, multiply by 3 months this conference will last, that is a delegate will be receveing a total of #12,000,000 multiply by 492 delegates equal to Five Billion, Nine Hundred and Four Million Naira ( #5,904,000,000) for Accommodation alone, excluding Seating Allowance, Transport Allowance, Feeding Allowance etc. Note: This is a govt. that made our youths and lecturers (ASUU) seat at home for over five months and refuse to honour agreement they signed with ASUU that they dnt have money, even their polytechnic counterpart are still on strike till today, their own is getting to nine months now. To cap it up the delegates said that the money shld be paid to them directly, b/cs some of them have houses in Abuja, some said they have relatives in Abuja where they can stay, u can imagine the mindset of those who has gone for the national discus to discuss our future or they are there for somebody who has called them to come and have their own shear of the national settlement. ONLY TIME WILL TELL.
