NATURE PROGRAMS & HIKES MAY 2, 3 & 4, 2014 FRIDAY 8:00 am BIRDWATCHING HIKE – Meet at 40-Acre Lake rest rooms. Bring binoculars. SATURDAY 9:30 – 10:00 am DISCOVERY STATION – MAMMALS – Stop by any time during the half hour to learn about some of our secret woodland residents. Pelts and skulls. 10:00 am CREEKFIELD LAKE NATURE HIKE -1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours. 11:30 am ANIMAL TALES (IP) – Never Kiss an Alligator – Listen to the book then make alligator puppets. 1:00 pm GUIDED BICYCLE RIDE - Meet at the flag pole in front of the Nature Center for a guided bike ride around Elm Lake to 40 Acre Lake and out on to the prairie. Learn about the diverse ecosystems and plants & animals that call Brazos Bend home. Bring your own bike. Length of ride is approximately 7 miles and suitable for all riders. Helmets recommended. 1:30 pm THE WONDERFUL LIVES OF SNAKES (IP) – Learn the facts about the animals most people love to hate. Live, non-venomous snakes. 3:30 pm THE AMAZING ARMADILLO! VIDEO & TALK (IP) – Learn about the official small mammal of Texas. Where did they come from? Where are they going? Do they really carry leprosy? SUNDAY 10:00 am CREEKFIELD LAKE NATURE HIKE -1/2 mile, paved trail, approximately 1.5 hours 1:30 pm ALLIGATORS – FROM THE BOTTOM TO THE TOP OF THE FOOD CHAIN - Meet at the Elm Lake Wildlife Viewing Platform. 3:30 pm WILDLIFE VIEWING – Join a Park Ranger at the Elm Lake Viewing Platform in the Elm Lake Picnic Area.
