NDO- General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has reiterated that developing agriculture and the maritime economy is a strategic task in national development. He made this statement during an October 6 meeting in Hanoi with voters in Ba Dinh and Tay Ho districts to hear their ideas and suggestions to the National Assembly. Regarding agricultural development, General Secretary Trong affirmed that the Party and State have issued numerous resolutions and policies on industrial development and attach great importance to agriculture, saying that developing agriculture will boost industrialisation through large-scale production using high quality, technological applications. The Party leader agreed with the voters’ ideas on further attention to the development of agriculture, rural areas and farmers as many still face numerous difficulties, as well as to maritime economic development in order to help protect national sovereignty. General Secretary Trong and voters also discussed official training, corruption, prevention of wastefulness, education, and communication about legal regulations to the public. At the meeting, representatives of Hanoi’s NA deputies briefed the attendees about the main activities of the NA’s eighth session, which is scheduled to take place from October 20 to November 29. They also informed the voters of answers to their suggestions to ministries and agencies in Hanoi and at the central level. The voters were pleased with the recent socio-economic development in the country and the capital and raised their concerns about agricultural development, urban management, economic restructuring, corruption prevention, human resources and the implementation of the Law on the Capital City.
