NESCA News & Notes ________________________________________ Jessica Minahan Guests on Between the Synapse Radio Broadcast October 2nd Posted: 13 Sep 2014 05:16 AM PDT From NESCA September 13, 2014 NESCA Director of Behavioral Services Jessica Minahan, M.Ed., BCBA will be a special guest on an upcoming broadcast of the internet radio show Between the Synapse. To air Thursday, October 2nd at 1:00pm Eastern, the episode, Part III in a series on education, will feature Minahan along with Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi, president of RespectAbilityUSA. With host Mark Toubin, the two will discuss how schools can best educate children who exhibit challenging behavior or learning issues. Minahan, a board certified behavior analyst, is author of the forthcoming Behavior Code Companion: Strategies, Tools, and Interventions for Supporting Students with Anxiety-Related or Oppositional Behaviors. Her new book, incorporating many years of experience supporting students, “reveals a systematic approach for deciphering causes and patterns of difficult student behaviors and matching them with proven strategies that get students back on track academically.” RespectAbilityUSA is, “a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization whose mission is to reshape the attitudes of American society so that people with disabilities can more fully participate in and contribute to society.” Recently, the organization took a look at elite private schools that do not frequently welcome children with disabilities.
