Stay tuned to hear the answer to this caregivers tough question: Dear Dementia Whisperer, My mother, now 87 and afflicted with definite symptoms of dementia, tends to telephone people, including me and my siblings constantly and repeatedly. She obviously forgets she has already phoned several times that day. Often the calls involve something seemingly minor. I suppose she is reaching out of loneliness (she lives alone but has daily caregivers). The constant calls are off putting, but a telephone is a necessity so removing it is not an option. I thought perhaps she could keep a pad next to the phone and mark down each call - and limit herself to one call per person per day. Any thoughts on your part about such excessive telephoning?
