*****NEW COURSE***** Foundation Course in Islamic Counselling & Psychotherapy In the 21st Century people will increasingly experience emotional and psychological distress and illnesses. The Nafsiyat Counselling and Psychotherapy programme taught by Hakim Salim Khan has a holistic tradition of therapy that can help to balance and treat these psychological conditions. This foundation course is great introduction into learning about Counselling and Psychotherapy from an Islamic perspective. It is also mandatory for students who are intending to study the Professional Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy – Nafsiyat, validated by the College of Medicine and Healing Arts. Students who successfully undertake this course can proceed to the Intermediate stage of the Diploma course. Course Outline The course will cover two modules of the Foundation programme. Module 1 Philosophy and Principles of Medicine (TIBB) Definition and subject matter of medicine, Philosphia Perennis, The Elements, The Temperaments, The Humours, The Organs, The Spirits, The Faculties, The Functions Module 2 Life Balance Seasons and Air, Psychological States, Sleep and Wakefulness, Dietetics, Elimination and Retention, Physical Activity and Rest, Special Causes. Course Dates, Times and Cost The course will Insha’Allah be taught over two days, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2014 from 10am to 4:30pm. Cost of Course £150. Venue All classes will be taught at the Faith Centre, Thomas Whitham Sixth Form College, Burnley Campus, Barden Lane, Burnley. BB10 1JD Course Tutor Hakim Salim Khan was born in the Northwest Frontier of Pakistan and studied in England and Pakistan. He has practised Islamic Medicine since 1978 and is widely acknowledged as a Hakim - a medical practitioner who has mastered the science of Ṭibb - medicine. Hakim Salim Khan practices at the Mohsin Institute, an Islamic Medicinal clinic and teaching institution in Leicester, England, which he founded and where he now works with his three sons. Having trained as a traditional Islamic Medical Practitioner and also having studied Iridology, Osteopathy, Western Physiotherapy and Homoeopathy, he lectures and teaches at least three of these other disciplines, bringing a unique perspective to Medical Practice. He is the Principal of The College of Medicine and Healing Arts and has pioneered professional training in Counselling & psychotherapy - Nafsiyat - since 2000. How do I book my place on the course?
