Success in life isn’t about perfection. Success is more about accepting yourself as you are and then working on the parts you don’t like. Success is about a lot of self-forgiveness. The truly successful have no need to impress you. They know only too well, it’s not about the car you drive, the home you live in, the country club you belong to or the celebrities you may hang out with. Why? Because the truly successful know who they are and that inner richness dwarfs any display of outer richness. Many years ago a very distinguished gentleman sat in my audience. During one of the breaks I asked him what he did. He quietly replied, “I work for the university”. Since the program was about to begin again I didn’t query him further. Little did I know at the time that not only did he “work” for the university, he was its president! This modest man, I was soon to discover had an incredible and long list of accomplishments and on his passing untold thousands grieved the loss. He was, in the minds and hearts of all who knew him, an exceptional man.That’s success! Success is about inspiring others, accomplishing more than you believed possible, always expecting the best and keeping your word. Success is simple once we get out of our own way. Success is simple!
