*NEW UPDATED VOTE TOTALS 8/9* KSHAMA SAWANT SEATTLE CITY COUNCIL CAMPAIGN As the flow of incoming votes slows toward a final tally, TODAY new totals give Kshama 34.84%. On election night the count gave her an impressive and historic 32.97% of the vote, Wednesday with the counting of late and mail votes that moved up to 33.17% and yesterday it was up to 34.69%. This is due to the quality of her campaign team and their get out the Vote work over the last days and hours of the campaign. Richard Conlin the current city council member had 49.16% of the vote on election day, 48.8% Wednesday, yesterday 48.09% and TODAY 47.92%. This downward trend shows us weakness in his ground game and lack of enthusiasm among his volunteers when compared to the @VoteSawant Team. It is NOW time to step forward and contact the @VoteSawant Team to volunteer for work on the Ground Game (Canvassing, Postering, Leafleting, Door Knocking), Phone Campaigns, Media Relations (increasing coverage in media), Fund-raising, Web development & design, Video Production, Research, Logistics. votesawant.org/get_involved It is NOW time to make a Donation to the campaign. Just as the @VoteSawant campaign made Electoral History in the Primary election it also set a Financial Record with approximately $25,000 raised and spent in the process. Sawant refuses to accept corporate donations. Her grassroots campaign has raised $25,000, predominantly in the form of small donations of $25 or less. The general election will need all of us to help the campaign set a New Financial Record while once again making Progressive/Socialist Electoral History. https://votesawant.nationbuilder/donate The Primary truly tested the Kshama Sawant Team. They have proven themselves and in the process built a foundation on which a November 5th General Election VICTORY can be reality. The Unions, Social Movements, Greens, Progressives and Socialist that came together to drive the @VoteSawant campaign are giving the working people a voice and a real chance to move the Seattle away from corporate-pandering politicians. “Working people in Seattle have a clear political choice for a change. If you want to fight for an alternative to the status quo, join us in the struggle for a citywide $15/hour minimum wage, a major expansion of public transit by taxing Seattle’s millionaires, increased investment in affordable housing, and implementing rent control,” Kshama Sawant
