NEW YORK - Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook medically evacuated a 51-year-old man from a vessel approximately eight-miles offshore east of Sandy Hook, N.Y., this morning. Watchstanders at Sector New York received a call at approximately 9:57 a.m., reporting that a passenger was experiencing pressure in their chest and shortness of breath. Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook launched a rescue boatcrew and arrived on scene at approximately 10:23 a.m., with the 80-foot fishing vessel. The rescue boatcrew safely transferred the ill passenger and two family members aboard the rescue boat, and quickly transported the three passengers back to Station Sandy Hook. Upon arrival the ill passenger was transferred to awaiting emergency medical services in a stable condition, and transported to Monmouth County Medical Center.
