In the CHCP categories, Assessment and Support Worker, Caroline Brown, won the Our Customers/Service Users category and was awarded the Overall CHCP title for her work with and support for the homeless. Margaret Solomon and the Youth Justice Team were awarded the Our People category after going the extra mile with vulnerable children caught up in the criminal justice system by setting up a co-ordinated package of support. Service Manager, Joyce Allan, and Client Finance Team Leader, Joanne McWaters, picked up the Our Leaders Award for their collaborative work in developing a system that captured all activity within the Homecare Service. The Our Resources Award went to the Reablement Team for their continued support of people wanting to live as independently as possible and the Older People’s Mental Health Service won the Our Culture Award for their highly effective and innovative approaches to supporting those in different settings. Councillor Joe McIllwee, Convenor of the Health & Social Care Committee commented: “These awards are an excellent way of recognising an individual or team whose level of public service has been exemplary. It’s important to acknowledge the fantastic job our staff do and to celebrate their commitment and achievements.” Inverclyde Council Leader, Councillor Stephen McCabe said: “Year on year we expect our employees to deliver the highest standard of service possible while facing increasing financial pressures on budgets. Their professionalism and dedication is exactly what ‘Pride of Inverclyde’ is all about, and I am delighted that their efforts have been recognised. Our employees work extremely hard to make a difference in our communities every day of the year.” Inverclyde Council Awards Winners 2014 Inverclyde Council Awards: Excellence in Innovation & Service Delivery – Christine Smith Employee of the Year – Karen Kelly Team of the Year – St Columba’s High School Outstanding Achievement – Elizabeth Edminston Provost’s Award – William Gorman Chief Executive’s Award – Waste Strategy Team CHCP Awards: Our Customers/Service Users – Caroline Brown Our People – Margaret Solomon & the Youth Justice Team Our Leaders – Joyce Allan & Joanne McWaters Our Resources – Reablement Team Our Culture – Older People’s Mental Health Service Overall CHCP Award – Caroline Brown
