NEWS ABOUT OURSELVES Our own Hon. Treasurer, HELEN BARKER (head of community participation, Beamish, The Living Museum of the North) is joining TRANSFORMERS the Museums Associations intensive professional development programme which aims to create radical change in museums and is inspired by the core values outlined in the Museums Association’s vision Museums Change Lives, which calls for museums to enrich the lives of individuals, contribute to strong and resilient communities and help create a fair and just society. Transformers will run from July 2014 – March 2015 and consists of two residential events and a final day-long event, coaching, a personal development plan for each participant and the opportunity to pitch for micro-funding to realise one key idea for change. Helen is one of nineteen participants selected for the programme and the only participant from our region.
