NEWS FLASH!!! I will be leaving Pan American Bank!!!!! And Ill be looking for my next gig! For over four years I have had the pleasure of running an amazing organization. Though we were the smallest bank in Los Angeles County, we developed a larger-than-life reputation. We developed a national reputation! Now that we are largely through the Great Recession the banks ownership has made the correct decision to begin the process of substantially growing the Banks footings and prepare itself for the next 50 years. This type of growth will require the addition of new partners (investors) and new leadership to carry out the mission. Since last year the banks ownership has been evaluating and vetting potential partners. We had over 50 interested investor groups! After an EXHAUSTIVE process the banks owners have their finalists. The process was not only a quantitative evaluation of deep pockets, but also a qualitative evaluation to ensure that the mission, vision, and legacy of the banks founder continues. In reviewing the qualifications of the finalists I feel extremely proud of what we did to attract such investors! I will likely continue with the bank for a couple months (maybe less, maybe more) - when the final deal closes. At that time a new awesome (trust me!) leader will come in. My job during that period remains unchanged...Make Small Business Dreams Come True! And continue to make the bank the best community bank in America. Im not sure what Ill do next. All I know is that Ill need to do something. For the first time in my life I am leaving the future wide open and not necessarily looking at banking. Maybe banking. Maybe consulting. Maybe teaching. Maybe nonprofit management. It will depend on the opportunities that come my way. My past four years have been so varied and I have experienced so much that my interests have grown substantially. I have a pretty full plate between now and the transition. So I will not have too much time to work on setting up the next gig. If you think of something that might be a good fit, please pass it on.
