NEWS FOR MONDAY, JULY 22ND, 2013 BODY DISCOVERED IN WOFFORD HEIGHTS A gruesome discovery in Wofford Heights has the Kern County Sheriff’s Department investigating a possible suspicious death. According to the department, a call was made last night regarding a possible dead body on a hillside near the 200 blk of Chappo Road in Wofford Heights. Deputies arrived shortly after 6PM and after a short inspection determined there were indeed human remains on the hill. Detectives were called out and an investigation is underway. Due to the condition of the body, no identification has been made as of yet. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week to determine the manner and cause of death and perhaps even get the name of the victim. However, the coroner’s report does say “Jane Doe” leading to the possibility that it is a woman’s body. No further information is available at this time and anyone with any information should contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Department. FOREST SERVICE REMOVES BOAT DOCKS IN LAKE In another sign of how bad the water level in the lake has become, it was announced on Friday that the Forest Service had removed the boat docks in Lake Isabella. The docks had become potential dangers due to the low water. Also, at Launch 19, boaters need to be aware of a sand bar at the end of the ramp, which will be removed by the service sometime today. Boaters should be prepared to launch their boats without a dock and they should inspect the ramp before use. Finally, boats can still be launched at the South Fork ramp, but it only has a few feet of its concrete ramp submerged in the water, so caution is urged before use. For any further information, contact the Forest Service. LOCAL SPORTS NEWS The Bakersfield Blaze beat the Jethawks yesterday 10-7.
