NEWS RELEASE, Oct. 15, 4:00 Two-vehicle collision kills Columbia man Howard County police are investigating a two-vehicle collision that killed a Columbia man this afternoon. The collision occurred around 1:35 p.m. on northbound Rt. 1, just prior to Corridor Road in Savage. Preliminary investigation indicates a 2003 Kenworth tractor trailer was stopped, or slowing, in traffic when it was rear ended by a 2008 Isuzu box truck. The driver of the Isuzu box truck, Robert Allen Styers, 34, of the 5600 block of Thicket Lane, Columbia, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer, Daniel Charles Kitchen, 36, of Elkton, was transported to Howard County General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The box truck was registered to Dickinson Fleet Services, of Indianapolis. The tractor trailer was registered to Fastrack Express Inc., of West Grove, PA. Northbound Rt. 1 was closed following the collision and is expected to remain closed for at least another hour. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. # # #
