*** NEWS *** UPDATE. I received this yesterday and have just read it. It appears that it is a mention and not the actual sentencing date, which might be some time away. I have some thoughts about the second paragraph of the email. Firstly, I think the young woman who received my call is doing everything she can. Secondly, my initial response is HELL no...it is a public gallery and why should the complainants and supporters be shunted away to a back room? This is not about accessibility of court rooms, but I would welcome input from others about both postponing the event to the sentencing date (which may be some months away) and also about the access issues. I would like to attend the sentencing mention appearance anyway. Thanks heaps, people. Hi Samantha I was speaking to you a moment ago about wheelchair access for the complainants and their supporters at the above appearance in the District Court. The 13th June 2014 is for a sentencing mention appearance for a sentencing date to be set, so the matter wont actually proceed to sentence on that date- will you still be expecting up to 40 supporters in wheelchairs on the 13th June 2014? Were liaising with building management now about fitting that number of wheelchairs inside the Court Room. Would another option be to have the complainants and supporters view the appearance from one of your offices or a conference room via video link to the Court? Thanks so much
