Former vice president Prof. Gilbert Bukenya says he is willing to refund all the monies he has received in a double payment form if it’s established by the relevant authorities. This comes after the committee of public service and local Government established that he has been receiving double payment as former vice president and mp Busiro north. However Bukenya told the committee that he does not receive special benefits, apart from salary, vehicle and sitting allowances as stipulated in the Constitution. He explained that whatever emoluments that he receives are given to him as a right in order to execute his duties as people’s representative. Prof. Vendors of USAFI Market have pleaded with parliament to prevail over Kampala Capital City Authority to take up the market from the current owners. Amid protest against the owner Umar Sekamatte, the vendors met MPs on the presidential committee led by Col. Fred Mwesigye and said that the rental fees in the market are too high compared to others run by KCCA.
