NEWSLASH - Short Courses have brand new video! The Short Course team wanted an exciting new platform to promote their diverse suite of courses, so they have made a video to do just that. The film captures the voices of real live students, including Roger Musoni, an ex-Asylum Seeker who has travelled a long way, in all senses of the expression. When released from detention, Roger came to Ruskin as a short course student, an experience which he describes articulately and with great passion. Roger became a Student Ambassador, progressed on to the Certificate of Higher Education, in Law and has subsequently embarked on a degree at Oxford Brookes University. Roger’s is just one of the many stories that students have to tell and the video also records Tom Feaney, a mature student returning to lifelong learning to take his IT qualifications. Tom has now joined Ruskin as a ‘Ransacker’, which means that he will be residential for a term, undertaking an independent research project into the Irish Famine. This is just one example of how short courses can be a spring board for progression. Learners’ confidence grows through taking bite-sized chunks of education, enabling them to move onto full-time study. The video gives an excellent insight into the life of a short course student, emphasising the supportive tuition and guidance which learners receive, together with encouragement and inspiration.
