Wilson, in his third and final season of his rookie contract that pays him just $800,000 this season is due for a major raise. While bringing the Seahawks to the playoffs as the number one seed in the NFC and winning the Super Bowl last year he has a combined (regular and playoffs) QB rating of 100, has a combined 90 TD’s and 27 int’s with only one coming in the playoffs.He is the first QB to throw for 300+ yards and rush for 100+ yards in a single game. Those numbers are ridiculous folks. Not only has Wilson been good he has been reliable. He has never missed a start in his career. Incredibly durable for a “mobile QB”. Wilson has gotten it done in big games this season for the Hawks a lot with his legs. On 118 carries he had 894 yards and 6 TD’s without losing one fumble. Pete Carroll’s spread option style offense has let Wilson flourish and his awareness on the field is un matched, knowing how to take care of the football and when to get down to increase his durability. At 5′ 10″ 203 lbs Wilson is not supposed to be as good as he is. He’s fast at 4.5 but RG3 is/was lightning fast and we may have seen his best days. The difference, Wilson is way above average in on field intelligence. With Wilson winning and performing at the pace he is certainly deserved of a contract that is in the Top 5 in the league. To put it into perspective Jay Cutler makes $126.7 Million, to do what exactly? Who knows. Wilson deserved top money because he is what everyone calls “Elite”. The question becomes with Marshawn Lynch wanting more can they afford to keep both? And without “beastmode” in the backfield will Wilson’s production slide? Plenty of season left for the Seahawks but plenty of things to attend to when it finally does end. Especially if Wilson can deliver a second straight Lombardi Trophy.
