NHC has downgraded Edouard to a tropical storm, as increased wind shear impacts the cyclone. Its centered about 680 miles west-northwest of Fayal Island in the western Azores as of 5 p.m. EDT/AST. Maximum sustained winds are 70 mph, and Edouard is expected to degenerate to a post-tropical cyclone on Friday. Swells from Edouard are affecting portions of Atlantic Canada and the the U.S. East Coast north of Florida. These swells will likely cause life-threatening rip currents through the remainder of today.
