NHC has upgraded Tropical Depression Six to Tropical Storm Edouard (pronounced eh-DWARD). Its centered as of 5 a.m. EDT over the central Atlantic Ocean about 1325 miles east of the Leeward Islands. Maximum sustained winds are 40 mph, and some strengthening during the next 48 hours is forecast. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect, and Edouard is not a threat to any land areas during the next five days.
