NHS Borders are reminding people to keep their patient details up to date: "NHS Borders with support from Blood and Transplant’s ‘Do you know who I am?’ campaign is helping to promote the importance of patient identification to both patients and staff. During the week 24 – 30 June 2013 patients and staff are being reminded to actively check patient details are up to date and accurate at every clinical interaction involving a test or treatment. With this in mind patients should check their own details that are held the next time they visit their health centre, GP or hospital so they can be confident their details are correct on file and ready to be used. In addition, the importance of wearing an identification wrist band all the time when you are a patient in hospital is critical. During next week (24-30 June) Dr Imogen Hayward, Consultant Anaesthetist, Mr Gavin Wight, Section Manager Transfusion Laboratory and Susan Cottrell, Transfusion Practitioner all from NHS Borders will be running events for patients and staff to drop in to discuss positive patient identification and to provide more information on how to improve identity checks and make sure safer care can be provided to all. We all have busy lives but I would strongly encourage both staff, patients, carers and the public to take full advantage of the experts and try and drop into one of these events. Tuesday 25th June - Hawick Community Hospital (9.30 to 11.30 am) Please contact (01896) 828287 for further information." -AR-
