NHT and INVESTMENT IS IT OR IS IT NOT IN JAMAICA’S INTEREST? Would it not be hypocritical of us if we did not look at the merits of this NHT investment in this Theme Park? Mark you I am not saying I agree with it and I am not saying I disagree with it. Going further I am not even asking for any heads to roll or asking for the Board to resign. We need to know more. But why have I today adopted this position? In recent days we have been stating very clearly that we do not want Jamaica’s assets to be sold off to foreign entities. Now here is an opportunity where a Jamaican entity is being taken over by a local body. Should this not be applauded or should it not? Applauded that we are keeping it at home, or not applauded because we are using NHT money for another purpose outside of their remit, which is it? 1. I would like the Jamaican people to see the proposed plan of how this will be profitable and not being a massive white elephant where money goes down the drain. 2. I would like the Jamaican people to be assured that it is not being bought out to protect a party loyalist from being put out to pasture. 3. I would like the Jamaican people to be assured that such money won’t affect Jamaica’s building programme in building more houses for NHT Contributors. 4. I would like the Jamaican people to be satisfied with relevant information. I have a very open mind but cautious at the same time and I do recall not that I can’t recall....I do recall that NHT funds were used recently by the said Government, what is the outcome of such money used? Just another perspective
