NIGER PDP PRIMARIES FLAWLESS - PDP The Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday described the conduct of the just concluded governorship primaries as flawless and a reflection of the wish of the people, adding that their failure was borne strictly out of their inability to impress the people. The state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Alhaji Hassan Saba in an interaction session with journalists in Minna also condemned the attitude of some of those that participated in the election saying they are crying wolf where there was none. It would be recalled that Alhaji Umar Nasko recorded a landslide victory with a total of 908 votes over other candidates who contested for the governorship candidacy under the PDP in the just concluded primaries in the state. Saba therefore urged those who lost the primaries to accept their fate adding that they must eschew unnecessary speculation over the conduct of the election. He said the joint press conference addressed by the contestants has the imprint of a script written in anticipation of failure borne strictly out of their inability to impress the people. He stated that governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu who was a contestant for the zone B senatorial seat in the just concluded primaries said those who emerged victorious in the primaries were subjected to popularity and administrative competence test while party rules were observed in the full glare of all stakeholders. He therefore rubbished the position of the aggrieved contestants over comments that he allowed an agent to write for him. He maintained it is legal and consistent with party regulations for him to do so adding that there is no provision in the party constitution that makes it mandatory for him to write by himself before voting. “I am indeed pleased with the outcome of the PDP primaries. I hail the leadership of the party for the smooth process, which characterized the primaries. Let me also thank most of the aspirants for conducting themselves in the best possible way during the exercise, it shows that the next general election in Niger state will be free of violence. “For those who lost out in the last primaries, I call on you to join hands with the party candidate to ensure victory for the party in the scheduled 2015 general elections he added.
