NIGERIA FOR CHANGE ASSOCIATION Suite 306, Copper House Zone 5, Wuse, ABUJA nigeria4changeassoc@gmail 08069182472; 08189158685 PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN JUNKETING FROM ONE CHURCH TO ANOTHER FOR ELECTORAL PREJUDICE AGAINST BUHARI JUNKETING FROM ONE CHURCH TO ANOTHER It is the tradition of President Goodluck Jonathan to junket from one church to another. He started it long before election as part of his “Adoption” doctrine and he is continuing with it to prosecute electoral prejudice against Muhammadu Buhari. As fellow Christians we know the amount of pressure and dissatisfaction our Christian brethren put and expressed to us on our support for Muhammadu Buhari. CRASS PHARISEEISM AT PLAY President Goodluck Jonathan is busy junketing and perambulating about all the churches to create an outward and sanctimonious Christianity but like the parable of the “White Tomb” the devil knows his own. The devil always reserves the audacity to say “Paul I know; Silas I know but who are you (Jonathan)?” FRAUDULENT IMPRESSION OF CHRISTIAN RULING ELITE President Goodluck Jonathan is fixed with the tradition of junketing from one Church to another to create an ego and messiac illusion that he is the image of Christian ruling elite. The ultimate result was the blasphemous equation of Jonathan with Jesus by his aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe. However, in the innermost recess of the corridor powers where the chess game is played with corruption, abuse of powers and lawlessness, the plundering of Nigeria and sharing of the spoil recognizes no religious identity. ASKING CHRISTIANS TO PRAY WHILE BUSY MISAPPROPRIATING NATIONAL RESOURCES President Goodluck Jonathan is junketing from one Church to another asking Christians to pray for Nigeria. He takes pleasure in asking Christians to pray while he engages in causing problems to engage them in prayer. President Goodluck Jonathan creates and deepens poverty by corruption, abuse of powers and impunity. The poverty creates ill-health for which there are no quality and adequate medical care. The resources and patriotism necessary for job creation and abolition of poverty have been depleted by corruption. President Goodluck Jonathan would engage Christians with prayers but deny the basic things that can take them off the poverty based prayer topics. It is a case of being in a position to solve a fellow Christian’s problem but refusing to solve and asking the person to go and pray. This case is even different. Nobody is asking President Goodluck Jonathan for any personal sacrifice. He is only asked to rule according to the law. But since he has conquered power and all of us are his slaves, President Goodluck Jonathan sees every public service as immense personal sacrifice. AURA OF CHRISTIAN PRESIDENT AND DEMANDING UNALLOYED SUPPORT FROM CHRISTENDOM President Goodluck Jonathan is busy junketing from one church to another by creating the aura and impression that, you see, I am a Christian President. If I am not in power, you cannot be privileged to have Nigerian President in your Church. With me, you have unlimited access to the Presidency. Once I remain there, who knows, it is your turn to become private jet owner and we will equally patronize your private jet with international businesses, if need be, money laundering. JONATHAN’S PREDATORY PRESIDENCY FAVOURS MERCANTILE CHRISTIANITY We have shown very well that President Goodluck Jonathan is in power to serve himself, his family and friends within the framework of internal colonialism. The accompanying humiliation, exploitation and devastation compel people to turn unto God for unnecessary miracles. Miracles come by fervent, persistent and all-engaging prayer and fasting. The foreclosure of opportunities caused people to massively turn unto God to make way where there is no way. This has instigated heavy traffic in churches and crusades grounds. The poor governance is good for President Goodluck Jonathan. The instigated stampede for miracles is favourable for Pastors. The losers are the majority (flocks). The church business is growing from strength to strength while the flocks wallow in self-piety, loss of direction, manipulation and exploitation from all sides. The churches are so busy that Sunday Services run up to five times, Service now every day and at working hours. The flocks have to drop in their productivity and working hours in order to patronize the busy and dutiful Pastors. The Pastors are enjoying best things of life while the flocks keep on praying and fasting. President Goodluck Jonathan only needs to enlist the Pastors into the internal colonial organogram for the necessary opium and captivity. He has done that and the Church is proving as fertile ground for electoral exploitation. CHRISTIANITY THE RELIGION OF KNOWLEDGE AND LIBERTY Christianity is a religion of knowledge. Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free (John 8:32). Be wise as serpent and innocent as dove (Matthew 10:16). Christianity is not just a religion of knowledge, it is a religion of liberty. Jesus Christ is our liberty. For if the Son of Man set you free and you are free indeed (John 8:36). Ye have been called into liberty only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another (Galatians 5:13). By the knowledge we know that the election is not a religious matter. The election is Nigerian matter and we are expected to assess President Goodluck Jonathan by what he has done for the past six years and what he is capable of doing in the next four years. We must not be misled by what improper impression President Goodluck Jonathan is trying to create. In Aso Rock he does not know the difference between Christians, Muslims and other groups of people. They plundered our resources and shared peacefully for our collective sufferings. Now he wants us to vote for him as Christians when he does not remember the basic rule of love your neighbor as thy self to work for everybody. GOD WILL NEVER DO WHAT ONE IS CAPABLE OF DOING BUT REFUSE TO DO Election is the precious opportunity for every voter to have a say on who governs one. It is a very serious, solemn and strategic means to decide who rule us. In taking the decision, we must be frank and bold to vote on the test of productivity and not sentiment that the candidate belongs to our religion. Our God does not aid laziness and foolishness. Our God deals with the vigilant, hardworking and wise people. To surrender the electoral power at the altar of religious sentiment as opposed to using it wisely to invest in productive leadership is to reap long sufferings. President Goodluck Jonathan will be going around junketing from one Church to another and giving one emotional joy. But aside from the emotional joy, one will reap aggravated poverty, mass unemployment, grave discontent and as Fela once put it “suffering and smiling”. BE WISE. CAN WE SAY PRESIDENT JONATHAN IS CHRISTIAN LIGHT TO NIGERIA? Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “Ye are the light of the world. a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid . . . Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5: 14 & 16). Can we say honestly that President Goodluck Jonathan do good works for God to be glorified? We say no! Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit. Every tree that bringeth not good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them (Matthew 7:17-20). By President Goodluck Jonathan’s fruit, which is corrupt, he should be cut down by being voted out of power. Thanks. ELAIGWU E. APEH, Esq. President NIGERIA FOR CHANGE ASSOCIATION.
