NO BID CONTRACT. This is interesting, today we learned that the Orland Park Public Library hired an outside vendor to provide videography services for the Library at Board Meetings. Theyve been doing this since August. The vendor charges $250 per meeting, plus $50 for each copy of a DVD that someone would request. Thats a violation of the FOIA statute right there, because the OPPL is not allowed to charge for copies to be made of videos and the videos could be sent for free electronically. But whats really interesting is that today the OPPL has admitted that it did not put the videography contract out to bid. Now we need to research if they were required to put it out to bid. We think they were. If so, they broke the law again by giving this no-bid contract to a certain videography firm…and that makes us wonder if the company is owned by someone who is a relative or friend of OPPL staff or Board Members. Stay tuned...
