NO MEDIA BIAS week continues... Exactly one week ago today, Drew Johnson got fired. Who is Drew Johnson? He is the former editor of the Chattanooga Times Free Press, who had the unmitigated gall to write a story titled “Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough”. I don’t think I need to go into detail about what it was about. Now, the paper is saying that he violated the rules by changing the headline from what they had originally wanted. A rule that Johnson said he had never heard in all his time at the paper. So to summarize, a writer writes a story that got picked up nationally, and was the most-read story for a paper that calls itself the “FREE PRESS”, and was fired for it. Meanwhile, just days earlier, the New Haven Register ran an opinion piece likening Fox News (and others) to the KKK. But for Bill O’Reilly strong-arming them into a tepid apology, it is likely that there would have been nothing done at all. Even still, no jobs lost or any other hand-wringing about how they may have insulted a large swath of their readers.
