NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER ON LAGOS HIJAB STRUGGLE In the name - TopicsExpress

NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER ON LAGOS HIJAB STRUGGLE In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. ‘They seek to extinguish the Light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His Light, much as the unbelievers may dislike it.’ (Q61:8) The leadership and the entire membership of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN Lagos State Area Unit, is using this medium to inform the Muslims in Lagos State and the general public that the issue of Hijab crisis is yet to be resolved. This notice has become necessary in view of the recent claim on a radio programme by a group of individuals laying claim to the leadership of the organisation that the MSSN has settled the issue with the State government and that there is no more victimisation and molestation of our sisters in public secondary schools in the state. On the programme “Waasi Jimoh” aired on Bond FM 92.9 on Friday 9th, May 2014, the said individual dished out a lot of misinformation and lies aimed at not only diverting the attention of Nigerians from the sinister attempt by the Babatunde Fashola administration to confine the issue to oblivion but also to ensure ultimately that the right of Muslims are permanently denied them. These individuals, we firmly believe, are being sponsored by some disgruntled politicians. You would recall that at the height of the crisis in 2013, the same set of people appeared on the same programme to confuse the Muslim public on the Hijab issue. ‘Those who disbelieve and obstruct Allahs Way, He will render their deeds fruitless. As for those who believe and do good deeds and believe in what is revealed to Muhammad - the truth from their Lord - He will remove from them their evils and improve their condition. This is because the unbelievers follow falsehood, while the believers follow the truth from their Lord. Thus, Allah cites their similitudes for mankind. (47:1-3) When we noticed the trend of misinformation being dished by both government officials and their paid foot-soldiers like these individuals, the leadership of our noble organisation through a paid advertorial in The Nation Newspaper chronicled the journey so far on the struggle. The publication came out few days to our second date in court over the issue in July 2013. Ever since then, none of these individuals came out to either identify with the struggle or support it in anyway. It will interest the Ummah to know that while these paid government appendages claimed that the issue has been resolved, the victimisation of our Muslim sisters still persist in Lagos public schools. It’s just that most of the cases go unreported in the media! ONCE AGAIN, WE WANT TO AUTHORITATIVELY CONFIRM THAT THE STRUGGLE IS STILL ON. After several adjournments which came at the request of the state government, under the guise of exploring out-of-court settlement, the court has fixed 18th June, 2014 for the commencement of hearing on the case. The court, we believe, is left with no option but to start hearing on the matter after an apparent effort by the state government to frustrate the proceeding through unwarranted request for adjournment at every sitting. Let us reiterate that the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN Lagos State Area Unit, under the leadership of Kamil Kalejaiye, shall not be deterred by blackmail, propaganda and misrepresentation of facts by those bent on destroying (with no reason) our humble sacrifices towards the reformation of the society. The society is no doubt in dire need of moral rejuvenation which is one of the cardinal objectives of our Organisation. One would therefore expect a synergy between the two structures. We are however not surprised about the governments delay tactics which is an antic that cannot stand Allah’s destiny. It is not our course but that of our Creator and we are ready to continue sacrificing for it without looking back. ‘O believers! Whoever among you renounce Islam, let them do so; soon Allah will replace them with others whom He will love and they will love Him, who will be humble towards the believers, mighty against the unbelievers, striving hard in the way of Allah, and will have no fear of reproach from any critic. Now this is the grace of Allah which He bestows on whom He pleases. Allah has boundless knowledge.’ Q5:54. We will also continue to partner with those who are sincere and ready to pursue this course with the sole aim of ensuring that Muslims’ divinely-ordained and constitutionally guaranteed rights are not denied them but not those who are seeking power by all means and are doing nothing to advance this course. We equally implore media outfits not to allow their platforms to be used for spreading confusion and lies as doing this negates the core principle for which the media profession operates. We reiterate again that ours is a civilized and very peaceful organization. We will not sacrifice the interest of the Ummah on the altar of pecuniary or political gains. The public should be rest assured that no matter how long the journey to justice is, we will not back out. It is only your support and prayers that we require to navigate the seemingly turbulent path. We thank all individuals and organisations that have been supporting this course from the beginning till this moment. We shall not let you down. The struggle is not ours alone but the entire Ummah’s. We pray Allah (SWT) grant us victory! All inquiries on this matter should therefore be directed to our secretariat at 4th Floor, 161, Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos.
