Parents are welcome to join us on this special night! JUST FOR MEN “In Gethsemane, Jesus is locked in combat with a human desire we all recognize: to avoid pain, to hold onto life, to win against death. In these dark hours, Jesus is at war” writes Michael Card. Jesus knew that he was called to a mission that would affect all mankind. He chose painful obedience. He prayed for God’s will to be done. Ultimately he was willing to lose all so that we could win all. Can you think of a time recently when you chose obedience to Jesus even though it was hard to do? NO PARENTING CLASS today or next Sunday. We will resume on April 13th. OPEN HOUSE Please join us in celebrating Fran Olson’s 90th birthday! Saturday, April 12th from 1pm – 3pm here at church. PRAYER FOCUS P.T. Forsyth wrote, “Prayer should arise more out of God’s Word and concern for his Kingdom than even out of our personal needs, trials or desires.” Think of how the Lord’s Prayer begins. “Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done…” This is how he taught his disciples to pray. This is our starting too. We pray for all our physical needs and the needs of those we love. We pray not to be led into temptation and all that that means – but supremely we begin our prayer with God’s plan and kingdom in mind. We want his ultimate will to be accomplished, first. We pray, then, for God, first. I have to admit I don’t keep that in mind nearly enough. It is something I need to keep in mind each day. SENIORS Tuesday, April 15th at 6pm we shall dine at the Rusty Wagon. The food is good and the company is even better. See you there. Sign-up sheet on back table. P.S. The time for our summer picnic season will soon be here. If you have any ideas of where to have these please see Donna DeHoog. SYMPATHY We express Christian sympathy to Rolena Dooyema, Jay & Debbie DeJong, Steve & Cammy Roosma & family, and Jarrod & Carissa Wineinger & family in the death of Junior Dooyema in Iowa.
